Marihatag

Marihatag program was started in 2009 in four coastal barangays. It has led tot he formation of four fisherfolk organizations. In the light of at least ten mining applications in the area, these fisherfolk organizations actively participated in the formation of Marihatag Multi-Sectoral Alliance for Environmental Protection (MMSAEP). The alliance issued a resolution rejecting mining applications in Marihatag. It is also actively campaigning against the approval of mining applications.

Marihatag currently has a Women-Managed Area (WMA), a 3-hectare mangrove reforested area.
